There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Bottom gasket

Post by wes »

I have rebuilt a standard engine with my race ported head running SP cams.
My race engine had a modified block which had been machined with no base gasket and modified piston heads.
But with a std block would removing the base gasket raise the compression without the need to modify the pistons to clear the valves?

To be clear the std cylinder block is running std pistons without any modifications...

I remove 0.35mm from the head and run without a base gasket without any issues although I do run the valves at race clearances (.25mm and .20mm) so you should have no issues at all.
