ignition block .

Post by BikerJake2010 »

ok some of you might have read about my loosing key fiasco the other day, basicly i have got the ignition barrel off and this is what i need to find out..

"I looked at the ignition barrel whilst attached to the lead and noticed a metal plate just were the cable come out, so i investigated a little further to reveal that its a easy job to take that off and the little white plastic bit with the connectors ( which thank god only can go on one way down to the T shaped spindal it has to go back on ) then under that is a black almost circle with cut out tabs thing, which i pulled out to reveal that is what the cord is connected to. So now i have the ignition on its own without having to mess with the rats nest of cables around the bottom half of the airbox. Willl this work still if i get a key made up 2moro and assemble it back the way i found it????........"

I just need to find out if the electrics will still be ok when i have a replacment key made up 2moro or will it trip somthing out and stop working?? Any help would be very very apreciated.
Cheers,
and happy riding in this PERFECT!! April weather :excited

Good man well done. Personaly I would have lifted the tank and air box and unplugged the ignition switch from there But so long as you can take the bit where the key goes to a lock smith then he will be able to make a key. Then just put it all back together as it was and off you in for a ride

Dont get too excited it night take a day or two to get your key made. With the way you have dismantled the ignition it might be possible to turn it on without a key ?

I was thinking that, i know how much the key turns so i know where the white plastic bit should be when the key is on.. a bit of sticky tape and a short ride out (not leaving the bike) would do... i just dont wanna put her all back 2gether to have to dismantle it for a new key... hmmm anyways off to the locksmiths to find out the verdict... *gulps*
