There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

GSXR Caliper mod - Spacers question

Post by mark400 »

Who knows the correct dimensions for the GsxR K1/ K3 caliper mod ?

I have found two different dimensions on this site, one is where the 6 pots have been fitted to a zxr750, theother where 6 pots have been fitted to a 400.

But as I have the four pot GSXR calipers from a 2001 gsxr 600, any one know the correct dimensions ?

The spacing is not overly critical to nearest thou as there is quite a bit of movement on the pistons/pads...2mm from memory...usualy the thickness of a normal 10mm washer...However in the past ive bonded washers to the calipers after tapping the caliper out to 10mm (using the stock zxr bolts)...but laterly ive turned some tophat spacers with an 8mm internal bore and a 10mmo/d...2mmflange ...and bonded them into the fork leg and used the original 8mm suzuki thread in the caliper.

Someone else had posted this on another thread in the brakes section. I understand that it applies to the 400 as well: Spacer dimensions for GSXR caliper upgrade

Edit: Sorry, should have read your post properly,I guess you've already seen this!

Converting to GSXR K1-3 calipers :

Looks like the spacers with a 1.5mm flange are too thin, the flange needs to be at least 2.5mm. Have to have some more made vsad I have an L model with standard (not SP) forks.

Now using the GSXR K2 caliper bolts (8mm), but they only use about 3/4 of the available thread in the caliper, the bolts need to be 40mm not the 35mm as standard.

Anyone know where I can get 40mm high tensile flanged bolts x 4 ??

Is there a certain grade of Ti which could suffice?

I got mine from probolt, think they were about £20, but that with a discount as a friend has a trade account with them.

I'm using a4 80 stainless, very similar tensile strength to an 8,8 bolt. 4 for a 8 quid on ebay. Cap heads.

I was going to buy Ti from Probolt but they just are too expensive for a few grams

Hi Will,

I was also a bit frightened at the probolt prices, although the tensile strength of grade 5 Ti is excellent !

Could you post a link to the stainless bolt supplier via Ebay please ?

Many thanks,
