Hi there! Just wondering what gearing people use at Knockhill? I was running my usual 14 49 at the weekend and now that the bikes been tuned I was hitting the limiter in sixth up the main straight. It was only just doin it before I had to brake for duffus but think I could maybee brake a bit later. Don't want to drop a couple of teeth on the back if it mucks things up elsewhere though!
Also I had problems in the wet race on Sunday with the bike misfiring and not reving out. Think it was water in the electrics but the airbox was pretty wet inside. It seemed to clear near the end of the race ran much better. Then I managed to wipeout coming out of the hairpin on the last lap. Just ran an inch too wide, the back hit the yellow paint and boof! Luckily both rider and bike were fine and I got out in race 2.
Any thoughts appreciated!
Ali

I run 14 48 and it seems just about right.altho the 49 might be better in the wet as you wont be carrying as much corner speed. are you heading to East fortune this weekend?

Re: KNOCKHILL GEARING
Ali - I am running 14 49 and despite this being "right" for the proddy 400 it isnt right for the tuned engines in the F400. Not sure what is right but I am hitting the limiter (14,500) before the bridge in top so am planning on a 47 next time out to see what that does. Hitting the limiter regularly isnt an option as this can seriously bugger the engine.
Good news on the crash- ie good news that you and bike were OK - I did exactly the same thing last year on a wet track day - run wide / hit paint and launched off bike. The paint at Knockhill is super slick in the wet - dont think there is any sand used in it. I am ultra cautious on the hairpin (and up the hill into the chicane) in the wet and just dont go anywhere near the paint
Any thoughts on gearing for E Fortune - am going this w/e for the first time so am in the dark on that but expect it to be much lower than Knockhill - what do you run there?

Re: KNOCKHILL GEARING
Think I'll try dropping a tooth or two on the back for next time out. I'm not gonna make East Fortune this weekend unfortunately, lack of pennies. Gonna do the remaining rounds there though hopefully. Its a cracking track aswell!!

I run 14/47 with 72BHP and I do not hit the limiter. Maybe worth a try.
