KBTL and bump starting

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

KBTL and bump starting

Post by Maxticate »

Here's a question.

The bike I have is running a total loss system however it still has the starter motor for getting the bike going. I am pretty sold on ditching the weight of the starter motor and just bump starting the bike.

However I'd also like the advantages of a slipper clutch or at least get the KBTL working properly. But would this stop me from bump starting the bike? Are the two mutually exclusive?

Cheers

Max

No, I've only ever heard of one person getting the original ZXR400 'slipper' cluthch to work, and I think that it was on this forum. I understand that on bikes fitted with proper modern slipper clutches you can still bump start. As far as I'm aware there are currently no slipper clutches that fit the ZXR400, but watch this space :smt002

Hi, thanks for setting me straight.

Are you working on something for the near future with regards to back torque limiting? ;-)

I'm not, but I know someone who is in conjunction with a proper slipper clutch manufacturer; but I'd better add that at that time they hadn't overcome certain problems. If I hear anything I'll let the forum know :smt001
