O Rings in the inlet rubbers

When replacing the inlet rubbers on the later models, do people...

Replace the O rings, no sealant

Are the needle rubbers up top of the carbs all ok? not perished or split? Properly seated etc?

Had the same problem with my wifes after rebuilding the carbs and doing the shims.
The last thing that I replaced and it sorted the problem was the mixture screws.
One looked like it had a slight bend near the tip.
Although this could probably have been fixed by messing about with the screws.
