Brakes....

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Brakes....

Post by Alan P »

....mine are sh!te, really sh!te :smt009 Please help!

Lots of people recommending lots of different calipers, but I'm interested in Fireblade calipers the most. Which ones do I need (i.e. from which model Fireblade) an what mods do I need to make to get them to fit?

Cheers

I've got k1/k2/k3 4 pot gsxr calipers on mine with a 7r master cylinder. Although they will need spacers to fit, they are unelievable. I've had the back wheel in the air and my bullocks have been crushed from htting the tank.

Thanks mate, I've heard they are very good too. If I go for the GSXR callipers, what spacers/mods do I need?

The reason I want to use Fireblade calipers is to fit Performance Friction pads. I'm not sure if they list them for the GSXR as well, but I know they do for the 'blade and I figured they will keep making them for longer as the 'blade callipers are a bit more current.

Oh and the other thing is there's loads of Fireblade callipers for sale on e-bay and none for gsxr's :smt002

Cheers

Yes mate, I tipped off very gently at Barn just after you went down.....lost the front and went down very lightly so only damaged the bar and brake lever (plus a few scuffs!). How about you? Bike ok?

Great to be having some fun again biggrin really enjoyed the ZXR. Gotta get those brakes sorted though shocking

Alan,

Have a look at this - ebay no. 260401058996 These are the type you need, they come in gold aswell. CBR600RR & SP1 calipers are the same too - all circa 2000 on.
Remember the 1mm shim between fork leg and caliper to centre the calipers on the disc, and you'll need a collar round the caliper bolts in the fork leg mounts as they have a smaller diameter than the Kwak bolts.

Time to get a radial master cylinder after that... biggrin

See you at Anglesey.
