A possible solution..

The standard 'l' model calipers are crap, most 'h' model calipers are a bit tired, its known that the 'h' caliper have a better size of piston and a larger pad and you can use existing 'l' disks with them.

So the 'h' caliper is exactly the same as

The 'h' caliper is available brand new with pads at less than £200 and thats for a pair.

Several zzr calipers are on ebay at less than £50. and appear in good condition

Hope this saves some people a lot of hassle messing with spacers and other bike calipers.

Is it just me who never had a problem with my brakes? I thought they were rather good - the only problem I ever had were binding pistons (usual stuff for a year-round rider) and severed hoses when I hit a blackbird (not the Honda).

Ive never had any problems either on any of my ZXR's. Could probably do with an oil change and clean at the moment but as you say jamz, just the usual for a year round rider...

Same here, they need a good clean bout once a year but never had a problem with stopping power.

Yeah, sorry - I didn't mean to imply it's not useful... just that so many on here seem to be swapping calipers over and having a whinge about their brakes! Now I can confirm that 6-pots are a Hell of a lot better than any 4-pots I've used, but I never wanted any more braking power on my 400.

I have to say the 2-pots on my VFR750 did the job just fine as well - and they were brilliant for cleaning!
