Am I screwing my zxr by keeping it 33bhp??

Post by sofiezx4 »

Ok, so Im a wuss. I did my test on my little cbr125 as I just wanted to get the test over and done with before the crazy changes this year. Passed with flying colours and sorta wish I did it on a bigger bike now. Anyways....Ive got my lovely zx4 restricted and although it still goes like stink, Im worried because some people have mentioned that Im knackering the bike by having the restrictors in. I rode it before the restrictor was fitted (shh..!) and only really notice a difference top end, she still pulls at 110 and I think theres a little more left after that. All I notice is that when I give her some welly, I can hear this high pitched whistling noise that Ive convinced myself is the carbs being strangled within an inch of their lives.
I need this bike to last me a while yet and am hoping to not have to deal with any explosions any time soon.
Any ideas chaps? (and chappettes? Where are you girls?!!)

Short answer............................NO

Longer answer the whistle you hear is most likely the wind/air rushing past a you fly along at 110

Well done pasing the test and enjoy your zxr400

<<<chappette here lol

i had washers in my last zxr400 and it rode fine and it flew to 120mph easily... never had an issue with them fitted. had them removed and WOW seemed at the time to make a huge difference to how the bike rode, but had the bike just over 2 year and had no engine or carb issues with it..with or without the washers fitted. :smt003

restricting a bike doesn't kill the engine, quite the opposite, I was led to believe...

Nothing wrong with doing your test on a 125 - congrats on passing!

repeat after me - "I am not harming my engine by riding with the restrictors in"
