guys a little bit more advice required please.
I have bought a gadget from Demon Tweeks which is a replacement for the right hand switchgear. It's just got an on off switch (replaces the kill switch) and a starter button, no other buttons. The idea is to get rid of both switch gear controls on both sides and the ignition key/barrell and just use this one for all on/off and start functions.
I like the idea and I have a complete spare loom to go with this gadget. Sadly I'm utterly useless when it comes to electrics. Does anybody know anyone who can turn these parts into a race loom either fitted to my bike, or ready to fit??
Many thanks

Re: race loom
If you want a really posh job you can send the loom to Track Electronics or similar and they'll sort you a professionally made race loom or simply make what modifications you require. You can easily do it yourself but it will take time and patience.

Re: race loom
if you look at the wiring loom for the bike it will be simple, obviously the wires from youre normal starter swithch will go straight into the new one, as far as a on/off switch you basically need to connect the right ignition wires to it,it actually sounds a lot more complicated than it is, just find out what wire is what and its simple really

Re: race loom
Cheers everyone,
Do you have the number for Track Electronics?
I know you're right that it should be simple.. but like a lot of things, everything is simple if you know how, and I must admit I've always shy'd away from electrics as they confuse me
. One part of me says it will be good to do it myself and learn from it, a sense of acheivement and all that... another part of me says I'll end up with a pile of wires on the garage floor and a mess I can't sort out (it wouldn't be the first time!).. ha ha ha!
I'll give Track Electronics a call if anyone has the number, or do they have a website?

Ha ha ha.. You've almost convinced me to get the wire cutters out mate... but then I remember such disasters as the time I tried to strip and rebuild my own gearbox (who would have thought there could be so many small bits??) and the time I tried to weld my own petrol tank having drained the petrol into a nearby bowl... in my wooden shed! (mind you the fire brigade were very good about the whole incident)... admittedly these things were back when I was in my teens, and I'm now just turned 40 but, I have learned in life that there is a fine line between having a go at something new, and getting disastrously out of your depth! There's plenty I'll have a go at, but electrics is a black art to me.. I've had a look at the wiring diagram that Masterofinsanity posted for me (thanks mate) but I'm still erring on the side of getting a pro to have a go for me.. if I could send it off and get the loom modified, then sent back to me I'd have a go at fitting it myself.. as long as there's no cutting involved!lewisdale wrote:personally i would give it a go
thanks for the encouragement though, it's appreciated. I've spent so many nights in the shed building this bike that any encouragement is a bonus, cheers!
