It is the police driving/riding manual. Hence Roadsafe, IAM, RoSPA and the police's own driving courses are based on it to a greater or lesser extent.

My brother-in-law has my copy. Must get it back.

Pay attention to how far away this vanishing point is, and whether it's coming towards or away from you. If it's coming towards you, you need to be slowing down. If it's going away from you, you can accelerate.
LPOV is the term the IAM coursebook gives - Limit Point Of Vision. Basically, it's an extension of what your parents always tell you as a simple policy as for where to be looking when you're driving - as far in front as you can possibly see - where the two sides of the road meet.

zimm is spot on. I have done advance riding throug the police, and i have had some race track lessons.
the key on the road is stay wide and you almost hug the outside of the corner, only turning in when you see the exit is clear.
on a track you start wide, and at the apex ( usually the midpoint of the corner) you are as close to the middle as possible, exiting wide, this straightens the bend, allowing more speed, hence you scream you tits off round a track.
on the road, you try to stay alive, and its all about view.
my advice, look to do something like bikesafe, will open yur eyes mate.

Got fork seals done, and the problem is cured :)

Now that I actually have some feedback from the front, I can corner more consitantly and with more speed / control over the corner than before.
