Re: 2 stroke porn
people give 2t a hard time for being unreliable and expensive tbh most of the time its down to poor maintenace. If you keep on top of it then there fine.
If you buy a low powered 2t then there far more reliable than a 4t in all aspects.
Even if they do blow up its the same price as a Major service on a 4t to get the engine rebuilt! If you do it yourself even less!

Top end rebuilt is as simple as unbolts the head, remove the barrel, check conrod for play new pistion and rings, rebore and plate barrel, bolt back togeather and your done.deviant wrote:bearing in mind the top end only consists of a couple of parts (bizarre powervalves aside), I bet I could do a top end rebuild with my eyes closed, and I've never had a 2T bike.
I havent had a bottom end go yet and they look quite hard but id give it a bash.

Re: 2 stroke porn
bottom end is almost as easy mate .. pull it apart, throw crank away or give to someone with BIG tools (model dependant) rebuild with new seals..
whats tricky is getting them spot on... far larger margin for error with a 4 stroke.. they can run like shite for ages and not eat themselves, a slightly wrong stroker will be either crap/unrideably peaky/melted.

I have had (non bike) 2T's in pieces and the only difficult thing about the bottom end is not dropping any of the big eng rollers into places you can't get them back from.rene wrote:

Re: 2 stroke porn
from what i've herd is hard is the same as zimm, getting the crank spot on. Also herd that the crank can be a bitch to remove (need a crank press).

Re: 2 stroke porn
I know someone who's just bought an NSR250 MC28 - single sided swinger, credit card ignition, etc.
If there is such a thing as 2T porn, that bike is it.

Re: 2 stroke porn
Sent out a few of those Yam' engines and love the engineering making the exhausts flow out the back
Aprillia RS's can be tuned to 70PS so about 65 ish BHP - thing is I've also sent out a ween of RS swingers, frames and USD's and that stuff ain't light. making a Yamagamma is a better proposition but i believe the RS's will out handle their power due to the over engineering. Aprillia gear for the RS is very good and makes Ducati stuff look cheap.
The NS250MC28 with "credit card" ignition is nice more so the SP model with Magtek wheels
(Almost fitted a set to my 400 but they have Honda stamped on them
) . Have sent a few modules out with "HRC" cards to make them full power fo the track
They come in "Rain" , "AVgas" and "Full" versions.
From modern "stinkers" it would be an RS for me

Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !

Re: 2 stroke porn
I used to have an NS125F

Never, ever, again will i have a 2 stroke after that bike. Considered an NSR400 and an RGV250 before i totally went off of two strokes.
Not my bike by the way, just a pic i found.

Should've owned one of these. They're common for a reason...
(I mean the RS not the Daihatsu Terios

Re: 2 stroke porn
Maybe i would have, but when i had that NS125 i was 17 and the RS hadnt been out long, so it was way out of my budget. I think they 4 grand brand new and the 250 nearer 6 grand!crushedlizard wrote:Should've owned one of these.
