Oh. My. Giddy. Aunt.
When you're doing 150mph and the bike is STILL trying to wheelie under the power, you know you're on an R1.
Fk me all over the place with a cutting-edge 1000cc superbike!!!
ARGHHHH!!
Hehehe!
Phwloargh...
Yamaha YZF-R1, I salute you!
And if I really must explain, I've just borrowed Daz's 2007 R1 so I can take it up to a glamour model photoshoot tomorrow!
Someone fetch the nurse, quickly!

Rode my mates R1 last, always wanted one since. Didnt rag it as i know they are proper fast bikes and it wasnt mine. Ill never forget winding that throttle open at 70mph and the front going all light, and that was only half a turn of the throttle!

Re: Oh. My. Giddy. Aunt.
but u could argue, do u really need that sort of power on the road?
imo road bikes are simply race bikes with lights now. too powerful

Yeah your right gem, youll never really need anything bigger then a 600 these days i reckon, anything bigger is wasted unless you like prison life.

ROFL! That reminds me, there's a 'Busa that shows up in midsommer sometimes at the pub - I know not what mods to the engine, but it's got a blue canister on the back, and a miniature turbo on the bottom... I was talking to the guy at one point, and I said 'why?' his reply was 'why not?' I had to say fair enough. He went on to explain that the Nos is a little pointless, as he can only use it above 150 odd, otherwise it just smokes the rear tyre pretty much instantly.masterofinsanity wrote:that reminds me i need some nitrous...........

Re: Oh. My. Giddy. Aunt.
well a few of us went out last wednesday, i was leading and my 750 was more than enough
if old bill had seen us we would have ended up doin a stretch for sure!
im contemplating turning my 7r into a track day bike, too much worry riding it on the road
works out more enjoyable and cheaper to turn up to a track in a transit van and spend a day riding round with no coppers nor speed limits

It's quite surprising how tame it was - very easy to ride.
It's not all that much faster than my ZX9R until you get to silly speeds, but then the power REALLY showed!
So it is fine on the roads, but very very tempting to open that throttle at every opportunity. And we're talking about a bike that does 107mph in first gear!!! You could, literally just never change gear - but then you'd have to be brave enough to deal with the power when you get to the high revs! I don't think I ever gave it full throttle...
Anyway, Sunday was pishing it down, so the model shoot was cancelled, and I ended up with my dream bike sat outside my house all day and didn't ride it! BASSSSSSSSSSSSSSTARRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDD!!!!!
When I did take it back on the night, I was very surprised at how good it was in the wet! I was expecting to absolutely terrify myself, but it was amazingly smooth and confident!
Hopefully I'll get to do it all again when it's rescheduled!
