Umm, dont think anyone has ever done that, except a member here who fitted a VFR800 single sided swingarm but thats for show. A larger section rear tyre will actually slow turn in speed.

hey rob..
i can understand what your saying...
but iam ging to make this a race bike... with an RZV500 V4 500cc two stroke in it
and i can make it turn in quicker if i wanted too, when i fit a 180 rear i can jack up the rear a little and drop the forks as well to counter act the wider wheel...
the bike should have 130hp at the rear wheel...
take a look at my friends bike he started

I know a couple of american zxr400 racers use 180 rears, but more cos of the better choice of rubber.
You can get a 180 in a standard zxr400 swingarm no probs, The early zx6r wheel goes in with a bit of this and that im told. There is probs others that will go to.

Re: What Swingarms have people fitted??
from what ive been told a 170/180 will fit in the stock swinger .. depending on the rim its fitted to.. (ie, how "pinched" the tyre is)
to be honest my zx6r engined zxr has 115bhp at the wheel, and i havent really noticed an issue with running the stock sized 160..

Re: What Swingarms have people fitted??
Yep, a ZX6 wheel with bearings to fit the ZXR400 spindle will fit, just then need to get some spacers made up. Oh, and may need the caliper hanger machined down a bit. Even the 400 sprocket carrier fit with the right wheel. Although I have seen a wheel fitted without any spacer on the right side, just bearing straight onto the caliper carrier.
ps, I don't know which model ZX6 wheel though

No need to change the swingarm, my 05 ZX6rr swingarm was narrower than my 400 swingarm by a few mm's. Wonder what it would take to swap them? Hmmmm.
