Im a bit lost, Ive just finished rebuilding my carbs, I balanced them and have been trying to fine tune a good idle with the mixture screw. I put the airbox back on to do this and all was fine until I realise I hadn't connected the crankcase breather onto the right side of the airbox. As soon as I did the engine died and wouldnt start again. I unplugged it and the bike ran again, plugged back on and it died again within about 3 seconds.
Does anyone have any ideas Im a little lost.

Start the bike with the breather pipe off and just put your thumb over the inlet port on the airbox. If the engine dies then it suggests that the only air reaching the carbs is through the port. That in turn suggests that there is a problem with the air going through the snorkel and the air filter. Remove the airbox, unfasten the screws holding the two halves together and separate them. The normal filter is sponge and wire cage, but after market filters are corrugated material. Inspect them for any sign of restriction. If there is nothing obvious, reassemble the airbox without the filter, fit it to the engine and try again. If the engine runs with the breather pipe fitted, then the air filter needs changing.
