Hi I'm toying with buying a replacement engine for my 1993 L3 and have seen an L9 with very low mileage (14k) mine has 17k. Previous post was "Very bad (loud) engine rattle".
Does anyone know if an L9 will fit in the L3 frame or, whether if I manage to find another one, which engines will fit?
Many thanks.

Re: Replacement for an L3 engine will an L9 fit?
The enginge will fit fine.
However it depends on what comes with the enginge (carbs, rad...) The L9 has got a carb heater (coolant flewing around it) and a 'secondary air system' (word for word translated from german. I have no clue how you call it) which is on the valve cover. Nevertheless you can remove both easily.
Cheers

Many thanks both.
I've found one but it's pricey. I hope to start stripping the top end at the weekend.
Thanks again.
