Ridiculously hard to find JIS screwdrivers for under £25...but ive managed to find out that Tamiya screwdrivers are JIS headed...so you can use those and they are much more plentiful/cheaper.

Struggled my backside off to remove the carburettors after various sources told me to clean those buggers... just could not figure out how in heavens name you remove the carbs, but with one of your pics I saw there are no screws attaching the carbs to the engine directly, so I went hunting for clamps of sort... Thanks I don't think I would have found them so easily had it not been for this tutorial. Will test it today and see how much of a muckup I made.
I got bored on my ZXR-400 for a while on the straights...

The difficult bit for me was finding a flathead screwdriver that wasnt too bit to fit inside the pilot air jet screw hole, yet had a big enough head to get decent traction. In the end I gave up and just gave it a good flushing with carb cleaner (and my eyeball incidentally ).

I had an old old screwdriver that was the right diameter and just reshaped it on the bench grinder, also im going to go to a shop in town and see if I can get some shouldered Allen headed bolts for the top of the carbs, rather than pissing about with awkward screwdrivers, already changed the float bowl bolts and it is much easier

Hey banner001, what do you think of leaving the carbs (after removing all rubber and plastic parts) for one day in acetone or paint thinner and after that clean them with compressed air? I don't have access to a sonication bath so I'm try to find some good alternatives. Thank you!

as long as there is only metal in there shouldnt do anything bad to the carbs, make sure they are fully submerged throughout

Just stripped & cleaned my carbs with the help of Banners writeup! Now fitted but waiting on my carb balancers to arrive before I make a judgement on whether they are sorted or not

Got them out. In case you are in the same situation and yours will absolutely not move with pliers, I used a bolt extractor. I had replacements so wasn't worried about chewing up the originals.
