Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum, so here comes my first question.
I am going to have to replace my cam chain soon, and i saw a D.I.D. and a Tourmax cam chain for the zxr 400 which has an openable link. That would make things a lot easier with the bottom sprocket, but i remember someone on here was saying the open chains are no good and that original kawi chains were always closed.
The last thing i want is my chain snaping, but i consider D.I.D. a reputable company and i wouldnt think that there would be a problem with their chain. As for the tourmax brand, it is supposedly an artificial trademark name made up by borg warner who make these chains, and they are apparently an oem supplier for jap bikes. So again, i tend to trust it.
Is there anyone here who could shed some light on this topic and tell me if these chains are safe?
Thanks in advance
Cam chain type

Re: Cam chain type
If you go for an open chain then you will pay down the line.
Do it right, get an endless chain.

So the chain will snap at the openable link or what is the problem?

Re: Cam chain type
Potentially yes. Any chain that has a soft link is always a weak spot.

Re: Cam chain type
Thanks for the info, I will stick to original kawaskai chains then.
