Anybody able to help me the following. Will pay for the time

Post by Fisher »

I would like to get the following done, as I just bought the bike, and who KNOWS when it was all done last...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carb sync
Valve Clearances Checked
Clutch adjust
Brake fluid change (possibly)
Lubricate all moving parts
Throttle checked / adjusted

General bike inspection (as bought second hand).
- Cam chain, clutch, clunky gears etc.

Idle Speed adjustment...

I am fairly happy to do the oil change, oil filter, air filter, and spark plug replacement myself...
But would appreciate help with that as well.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I would just take it to the garage, but they are going to want silly money for it.
Probably wanting to take it in for a whole day or two or something...

I would be happy to pay for your petrol / time, or alternatively, I would come to you :P

Anyone able to help out?

If you get the tools, all that can be done by most people.

Only thing i would suggest you pay someone to do is the the valve clearances and the fluid change if your not confident. Rest of it is fairly basic maintenance and would probably do you good to learn yourself. Haynes do a Maintenance Techbook which covers all of those aspects, although its not model specific its all very much the same the basic stuff, and you can back it up with some of whats in the workshop on the main site and workshop manual.

Only problem with the valve clearances, is that the bike needs to be cold, so I would have to leave my bike at the garage for more or less a whole day which will suck as I commute on it :(

Yes unfortunately, and i would put a whole day aside to do it too, although if you are just checking them probably just a few hours would do if you know what you are doing.
