The new missus and her new rear end! ZXRS400

Post by Marcie »

Well hello, Ive spent the last three days, sprousing up my zxr and making it my own. Non of this buy a new bike business wheres the fun in that, would you consider ripping apart a 08 r1 to change the seat unit? I think not. So then this is my ZXR400RS. Personally i think its beutiful.

What ive done to it since i got it cosmetic wise:
Swapped the naff mirrors for indicator mirrors which i think look like the devils ears or a pigs ears.
Bought a Rsend adjustable tail tidy, looks the sex!
Used arrow indicators for the back lil and sleek.
Used the rear fairing/tail unit of an RS, and the tail light assembly. SHARP!!!

Thanks MOI for the picture thing.

:excited

Some body once told me... Theres only two things in life you'll ever need, Gaffa tape and WD40.
If it moves and it should'nt use Gaffa tape, if it doesnt move and it should use WD40!

ahh its too embarrasing to say...

Aprilia RS50
I know.... but still, i saw it ina street fighter mag, on a bandit 1200, it just so happened i had a RS50 piled up at the back of the garage.

I used the rear fairing/side panels *the rear unit is in two bits, gloss black and matt*, the light unit, and the rear seat of an RS50 (the rear seat even locks and unlocks to an undertray where i keep my waterproofs and balaclava)

An Rsend adjustable tail tidy with mini indicators. Looks beautiful with the small plate.

Indicator mirrors on the front, ive cured the big bulkyness of the zxr400 and created my own personal sharp modern ZXRS400! Im chuffed to bits, hope you like.

I do... and pics throughout the work i did aswel. ill post a few. Looks a bit mismatched atm but plastic fumes start to fook up the brain after a few days, ill finish it soon though. May break out the welder and do a propper job, but its still sturdy and could be permanent.

Yeah its and easy job, i think changing the rear end could quite easily be done by anyone. I mean i can weld and what not, but on this i bodged! by bodged i mean spacers on 6inch bolts and spare things laying around the garage.

It was off a 97 RS Extrema.

You guys out there might want something that sits more flush, but tbh i think it looks tidy enough to impress, certainly gets bikers looking when its parked up.
And my bodging is so good that my 12 stone mate can sit on the back seat and it holds perfectly. I dont have anyone heavier to test it with, but the missus doesnt weigh much, so its good for me.
Im in love with it, if you cant tell.

Haha, yeah give me gaffa tape, cable ties, and wd40 and i could build you a house my friend.
Cable ties are underrated tools!
Once saw a guy racing in the NEMCRC he'd had a spill and smashed his fairing to pieces.
The next race he was out with every mm of that bike covered in gaffa tape, apart from his number.

I always thought those tails looked too big for the rs50, but it suits the zxr very well :smt023 Get the gloss bit done blue and it will be even better!

Yeah i know what you mean.
Um, i think a paint job is in order. Lime Green faded to Focus Orange with silver metalic flakes or black possiably with red flake.
Or halfrauds paint.
