Re: ZXR400/600
i had that dread when the ZXR had been apart for so long, getting it running afterwards i thought was gonna be a pig but actually turned out to be much easier in the end.
Just remember, youll never get back what you have spent, but im sure you know that already.

Re: ZXR400/600
well, i will and i wont ..
dunno what it'd sell for .. but it "should" be as good as a zx636 B1H, and i reckon all in (if i dont pay someone to paint it) it'll have cost .. under 2.5k,, if thats the case.. its a bargain (as long as it pisses on my mates R6 i'll be laughing anway.. lol)
i could easily spend another grand on it .. but i'll see how it goes... still cheap anyway.
out of interest, what would you pay for a 110bhp, ram-aired, fully race tuned 600cc zxr400 with maxton forks, prolite discs, yoshimura 4-1, all freshly built, powder coated and painted ?
If the worst happens and the engine lets go, or the frame cracks, all the running gear and trick bits can go straight on any zxr400 ..

Re: ZXR400/600
cams in ! took giraffe ages to find the tensioner blade .. was in a box of tat i'd mentally labelled as "misc engine bollox, probably useless" .. still, found it in the end, and the bolt and o-ring too
when assembling it all i noticed a few of the mods that have been made .. the front tensioner blade is supposed to be like a zxr400, where it slips down and sits in a cup shaped bit of the casing (the bit folks grind off to change the camchain).... well, the cup bit has been removed completely, a hole drilled and tapped with an M6 thread, and pivot welded to the end of the tensioner arm.. not quite sure why ..
so, yeh, new camchain fitted and cams in and timed up (not on the sprockets though, have left them as they were for now, but will prob's retard the exhaust cam a bit just to be safe), I turned it over a couple of times to make sure there's no contact .. so tomorrow, i'll rip it all apart a thousand times to do the (shim under bucket, and hence a pain) valve clearances, and re-measure the piston to valve clearance .. just remembered.. im not sure the cam cover will come off when its in the frame .. so.. i'd better get it right.

Re: ZXR400/600
swapped the re-valved forks for some SP's and have finally and almost accidentally sourced an SP rear subframe which should arrive in a few days..
found an NWS rear shock linkage so im going to try that with the standard shock rather than fork out for a nitron/maxton
so there's still occasional progress
