This is a beautiful bike.
I'm just in the process of rebuilding mine in Honda Nighthawk Black with gold wheels. Mines got the black frame as it's a 1993 L3. Will start a thread soon........

Re: Rebuild and respray of zxr 400
I got around to getting the new chrome decals sorted, I have done around 1500 miles on the bike now and it rides superb, just need a few tweaks of the rear suspension.
I might get round to using the zx6r wheel spindle as well, as I have ordered up some wheel bearings that i think will fit into the ZXR wheel, it will just require some custom spacers made up to align the wheel properly in the centre.
Heres a couple of new shots:

hello mate, great work on the bike. I was wondering what kind of paint you used for the engine ?

Re: Rebuild and respray of zxr 400
I just used silver high temp paint from a can to paint the engine.
Im hoping to get out on it more next year only managed around ~1200 this year on it. Still would love a bit increased capacity for it, it would just make it the perfect road bike with ~85 bhp and a bit more midrange.
Thanks for all the positive comments.

Could i ask, where did you get the mirrors? Are they off another bike and did they need any adjustments to fit?

The mirrors are 06-07 zx10r mirrors, on the original zxr 400 mounts, required a couple of shims to take up the slack but worked perfectly, they sit out a little further so let you see behind you as well, rather than looking at your elbows.jaiendea wrote:Could i ask, where did you get the mirrors? Every 1,000rpm in 6th gear roughly equates to 10mph - I Don't pay much attention to speedo. I do have a brand new roso RX1N digital speedo i was going to fit but decided not to bother. You could with some work probably get a mechanical speedo hooked back up, it just fowls the fork lower by quite a bit and i wasnt fussed about not having one.Aripug wrote:Hi!

I still need to see what i can do with the front wheel bearings and retain the original zx6r spindle.
got them done by doobrychat off of ebay, here is his email: doobrychat @ hotmail . com (remove spaces)ryan1984 wrote: thats looks mega

Re: Rebuild and respray of zxr 400
going to dig this out the garage again shortly - had the insurance renewal reminder through and she must of covered less than 1000 miles since the rebuild.
Will need the valve clearances set, will probably take the carbs out and get them ultrasonically cleaned since they have been sitting (although I ran the bike until it cut out with the fuel tap off), and its been sitting in my internal (heated) garage. Might treat her to some new boots as well.
