I wouldn't say it died instantly, it spluttered for a couple of seconds then went dead losing all power. Won't get a chance to do any work this week with work, but will find out where the clutch switch is and do the mod. Will see how I get on after that. Thanks

It's been a while...
Just come across tuckshop's racing ZXR 400 on Instagram and the fond memories of this project came flooding back. My ZXR 400 is long gone now but did appreciate all the help at the time (esp Banner!) and feel like I learnt loads which put me in good stead. I only got rid of the ZXR as I was offered a part-ex price way over what I got it for, but it did inform my next/current bike
