as the 750 calipers fit strate onto the 400 i thought peopel might be intrested in this,
GSXR1000 calipers will fit onto the L but you need to get spacers made up
spacers
spacer sizing-
(thank you very much to http://www.webzxr.co.uk/ for this made my life so much easyer!)
before
after
Prob one of the best mods i've made after the suspention upgrade get loads of lovely feeling though the lever and LOADS of brakeing
If you do this mod on the 400 then id recomend upgradeing to the 750 Master C as the 400 one is smaller

hayabusa ones wont fit, they are the same as on my 7R and the spacing is waaaaay to big. The ZZR1100 calipers fit but i think you also need the master cyclinder.

Re: ZXR400 6pot Tokico upgrade.
as said the busa ones are the same as the zx7r ones what are to big.
the ZZR1100 calipers are the same as the standard zxr750's what are a direct replacment to the zxr400 calipers (just biger pistons thus more power) but you'll need to upgrade the master cyclinder to get the most from them!

Re: ZXR400 6pot Tokico upgrade.
right got this from the PB forum from a member called bill big skid who im sure is a member here?
.Just a quicky about the front brakes, you can fit Honda FireBlade front calipers to the ZXR400 forks. I've got them fitted to my ZXR race bike. The Honda bolts are slightly thinner but all you do is sleeve the holes with appropriately sized tube and use a 1 Mil washer between the leg and the caliper to centralise it on the disc (with a ZXR 400 wheel that is). A top mod IMHO, especially on summat as light as your bike

Re: ZXR400 6pot Tokico upgrade.
I have completed this upgrade last night, not tried them yet but it looks much better and should be lovely to use.
Very easy to do. Hardest part will be finding the calipers and getting the spacers made.
Calipers are from a Suzuki GSXR1000K1/K2.
You will need the spacers though.
Standard disks are fine.
And yes you will need the pads to suit the suzuki calipers.
I have also replaced the master cylinder for a ZX7R one as it is a bit bigger, and replaced the brake lines with Hell ones.
All I need now is some brake fluid!!!
Nick.

Re: ZXR400 6pot Tokico upgrade.
you wont necesarily need a ZX7R master cylinder, but you will more than likely need a larger one, a ZX7 M/C just so happens to be big enough as ZX7 calipers are also 6 pots. I suppose the rule of thumb is; If the M/C operates 6 pot calipers and fits to your handle bars then you can use it.
You should be able to use the existing braided lines, as far as im aware only the banjo bolt threads differ. So worst case is you need to buy a different thread pitch bolt and some new copper washers

Re: ZXR400 6pot Tokico upgrade.
so does that mean i can fit any master cylinder(as long as its bigger than say,a zx6r) as long as it fits the bars? im seriously interested in a brembo one on the harris website, if it will fit. another thing can i upgrade the rear brake? any benefits or should i just paint the caliper and put new pads in? told you i was 'special' !!

Im not 100% mate but yeah i think if you go by that you should be ok.
Not worth doing the back brake mate, just paint it and put pads in

Re: ZXR400 6pot Tokico upgrade.
just as warning most of the brembo M/C's are radial insted of normal fittment so you'll need hoses specialy made.tobomoto wrote:so does that mean i can fit any master cylinder(as long as its bigger than say,a zx6r) as long as it fits the bars? im seriously interested in a brembo one on the harris website, if it will fit. another thing can i upgrade the rear brake? any benefits or should i just paint the caliper and put new pads in? told you i was 'special' !!
