Parts from other bikes which fit the ZXR

Post by deviant »

There seems to be a lot of discussion about what parts off other bikes fit the ZXR400. I thought we could collect them all in one place under this thread.

Suspension and brakes

ZX-6R forks - fit into ZXR yokes. (how does this affect the wheel and brakes?)
BigB wrote:ok please can you confirm if these will fit the H model

:rant

i know i know, im on an H model, but a lot of info seems to be for the L models - i assume a lot of the threads that are made asking bout which part fits which are for L models only ... feel a bit left out with my H lol
Mori Man wrote:ZX6-R used conventional forks initially

ZX636 uses USDs with radial calipers

NO - they will not directly fit H triples , however if you reem out the lower clamp by half a mm they will. Buy a honing stone set and get busy with your drill :smt003

MM!

ZX6R F1 & 2, and ZZR600D calipers bolt straight on.

GSX-R 6 pot callipers - fit ZXR forks. (Anyone got any detail on what mods are required? Which gixxers, etc)

Perilous wrote:Also ZX6R F1 & 2. ZZR600D calipers go straight on. I've found the ZZR ones quite easy to get hold of in reasonable condition.
RedexRobB wrote:Levers also interchange between models. I remember when i bought a lever from ebay and checked with kawasaki that it fit, it would also go on a GPZ and an ER5. There were other but i forgets.

Rear calipers also swap between models im sure, as well as front brake calipers, they look different but they fit the same, the ZXR750 caliper fits too.

Footpegs, they are used on loads of other models, got the same on my ZX7R, had em also on my old GPX 250.

Feetrest hangers also swap between L and H model, as with calipers the look different but fit the same.

Rear shocks swap too!

The rear disks are a common part too for kawasaki. Again had the same disk on my GPX 250 and seen them on various other kwaks.

Fuel caps also swap, same on my ZX7, GPX 250, ER5 etc...

cant think of much more :smt017

Well, a GSXR600 (can't remember what year) front brake lever fits straight on, but you'd need to change the clutch lever mounting. I used a ZX636r one for this, but i guesss any zx6 one would fit. Could probably use the matching gsxr600 one and get them a bit cheaper by buying a matched pair.

And regards to the GSXR calipers, it's the 1000cc K1 and K2 models. I know coz i've got them on mine. You'll need a matching master cylinder mind. And you need to use spacers, but thats all the mods you need to do.

this makes the zxr a little more of a tourer shocking did i say tourer? i meant endurance racer ahem!

going up one on the front drops the revs by about 7%, so 100mph drops to 9300rpm.

on the cruise i get about 45mpg from mine (and i cruise at 100mph ish, 90 is only used when i'm on reserve, and boy does it seem slow!)

I've got a gpz500s (d3) at home so i will keep an eye out for what parts can be swapped over. I suspect rear sprockets can be changed too.

Anyone know if you can swpa brake/clutch levers between zxr400 and zx6r?? Looking at getting some trak-tech levers, but they don't have the 400 listed, just the bigger engine models!!

They'll more than likely be the same as the Pazzo's mate. Take it to a shop and find out which levers will fit either side. That's what I did. You may need to swap the clutch lever mounting for a matching one off the same bike as the brake lever. :smt001

I should imagine that find a bolt (3) on can will be quite hard to find as the standard front pipes rot and most replacment pipes will involve a slip on end can ? ?

A 750 one might fit but I dont know

rear sprocket is not interchangeable with gpz500. Can go up to a 17 tooth on front, but can make pulling away very difficult, and you'll have to remove the sprocket cover.

indicators look similar, will check at some point. switch gear is also similar in layout, so i suspect that might also swap over with gpz500.
I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).

Got ZRX400 1998 discs on my H2 & the H2 discs are on my ZRX

Would assume any Kwak 6 bolt pattern 300mm discs will fit as they always seem to use the same offset on the mounting plates.

Hi everybody,

I need to change the wiring harness of my H2.
A wiring harness of L model can fit with H2 model ? (I think about differences on some connectors)

Thank you for your help.

Hey J,

It needs extensive changes to make it fit - best find a H1 /J1 / H2 or J2 loom (harness)

If you use L model you will need CDI from L or block connector to fit your H2 CDI.

If you have no luck sourcing a loom for your H2 drop me a PM in the New Year and I will get one for you.
