tyre size and compensating on suspension?

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

tyre size and compensating on suspension?

Post by andmat2 »

Hi all,

Have recently been supplied 120/70 bridgestone slick for the front, I notice that the profile is much higher than the standard 120/60, do you just drop the forks to compensate? also the bridgestone rear looks totally wrong (pinched in) anyone else been there?

any thoughts appreciated

Cheers

Don't know about the Bridgestones but I do know that every race ZXR400 I've seen has 120/70 front tyre.
And I've not ever felt the need to adjust or change the suspension on mine as a result of using a 120/70

hello peoples -

ive gone from tyre to TYRES over the last few months. I went from 120/60 dunlop street based tyre to the 120/80 duclop 250gp slick. I did raise the rear just for turn in. But the style of the tyre was allot different. The tyres had a far flatter slide wall so was real stable on the slide.

at taupo i changed the rear - remember if you change the rear ie 165/70/17 to a 150/60/17 at seriously lowers your gearing. So if i change the rear tyre i go from a 47t rear to a 46t to compensate it.

hope this helps.

swapping from 120/60/17 dunlop alpha 10 to a 120/70/17 dunlop alpha 10 I had to drop the front to get her turning again.. wasnt a lot ... few mm.

havent run off the edge of the 120/70 like i kept doing the 120/60, so its staying on even though it feels cumbersome in comparison.
