Help no spark on my race bike

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Help no spark on my race bike

i have re-built my race bike and removed the ignition switch i cant get a spark the pick is showing a reading but there is no reading at coil leads, the red wiring has power but the others show nothing i am really stuck :( :smt010

when you removed the ignition did you install an inline resistor to replicate the anti-hotwiring in the key switch? If you need details of this there is a drawing on the site (try searching something like "race loom" - failing that Baz will know where it is. Without this mod the bike will turn over but no sparks.

Actually - not sure if bike will even turn over without this mod - I cant remember but without the resistor (I think its 100ohm- got mine from Maplin) the bike certainly wont run

Hey mate

I had a similar issue, i found that my battery was a bit on the dodgy side. Even though the starter motor was working no spark from the coils. Get the battery tested or try a different one and see if it makes a difference
