Rear Disc

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Rear Disc

Post by Alan P »

Happy new year to you all and good luck for 2009.

Have not long bought an L9 2000 model and have just stripped it to prep for next season. Apart from being generally a bit lardy here and there, I couldn't believe how heavy the rear disc is! Was this an overstock part from KHI's shipbuilding yard? shocking

Does any body know if there is a lighter disc out there that fits, perhaps off a 'crosser? Failing that, is something like a Galfer Wavy any lighter?

Cheers

Yes, have seen those.....I'll send the seller an e-mail to ask, but my guess is they probably aren't that much lighter.

Thanks for the suggestion though

hello and happy new year to you too :smt001
ive been thinkin the same. A freind of mine used some sort of moped back brake back when they raced 400's at the tt.not sure what disk he used tho, but it was as light and feeble as a peice of foil
i was just gonna drill loads of massive holes out of my disk, so it just about holds together. Its only got to work at a standstill for the scruits afterall..well unless you use it?

The company that did my wavey disks did thinner light weight items, not road legal of course but might be what your looking for?

ABE are the guys.

This place will machine your rear rotor, http://qualitymachineco.com/racing.html
I'll bet you could find someplace in the UK to do the same.

Jake, I know what you mean, but we all use the back brake if the front isn't working shocking shocking

Anyway, thanks for the note about ABE. I've used them before and they were ok so would have no probs with them again.

The item on simmo's bike looks like what I'm after, so for £40 please put me down for one of those too.....let me know when you're going to do the order and where to send the cheque and it'll be on its way biggrin biggrin

Cheers guys

Leon - thats three definates - me, Alan P and Jake. Is 5 the minimum order? If so we could raise this under "items for sale" - rear racing disc - we'd get two more I reckon
