pirelli diablo supercorsa longevity
Alright chaps,
lookin to get some tyres for the bike. found this guy on ebay who does part worn (on the track) of these tyres. Im looking at a sc1 front with 4mm and sc2 rear with 5 mm.
Im a warm weekend rider, whats the mileage i should expect from these tyres? the front looks like its made from playdoh! I want a sticky front end theres nothing worse tan feeling that wooden shifty feeling i got yesterday on a well used shiny roundabout, shat meself. If your talking 400 miles i wont bother but its tempting... any experience /thought on it appreciated
I am pretty inexperienced on big bikes, and passed my test a month ago. Im thinking that i might not benefit from the tyres or might just shred them not warming em up properly?

its not a stupid question,for someone whos just passed their test. get some miles under your belt ,theres no way you should be thinkinkin about race tyres unless your racin.go out stick to your limits. cheers bobby

Race tyres are designed to work on the track, the street does not suit them as well. If they're free or really cheap I'd use them, but they won't last long and they won't be operating at the correct temps as you shouldn't be going that fast on the street.

Come on now lads, thats a bit harsh.......lets not forget that a lot of people who have nothing to do with racing use pirelli diablo supercorsa's on the road and they are in fact a road tyre.
They wont get as hot as track use and therefore wont provide that stupid level of grip associated with racing, but the softer rubber you can use on the street the better surely?! I used race scrubbed supercorsa's on the road well before i got into racing myself as they are soft and sticky and will warm up better in a short amount of time.
As for longevity hudders you will obviously get less miles out of super corsa's than you would a touring tyre, be them new or race scrubbed. If you are getting them at a good price 40-50 quid a set and they havent been cold torn or anything by the racer you are getting em off I would expect to see a couple of thousand miles out of em. In my opinion its a good idea but you make your own mind up based on everyones comments and your own feelings on the matter. The bottom line for me is though that supercorsa's are the best and stickiest road rubber available, so race scrubs or new I'd use em on road and circuit - its all about confidence and these tyres will give you plenty so that you can improve your riding skills.

But don't forget that a slippery roundabout is a slippery roundabout, no matter what tyres you have on. Improving your riding skills is a must so that you can anticipate where hazards are likely to be - then they'll be less scary when you encounter them, prepared. There are a lot of lateral forces on vehicles going round roundabouts, which tends to scrub off rubber onto the road surface. These forces also cause oil to get shaken out of engine spaces and overfilled diesel tanks to spill. They're always poor and throw in a light shower and you need to go round as if on ice. That's why I think it's a really bad idea when people try the knee down carry on on roundabouts, it's asking for bother. So whatever you do, don't put on some sticky race tyres and expect to be glued to the road, cos you'll end up on yer backside.

thanks for the advice all.
but based on the silence from theforum i decided it hadto be a non starter.
Bought a new set of maxxis supermaxx instead - looked at forum and reviews gonna give it a go for £144. i reckon the diablos will go for 75 quid with postage and for 2000 miles hoping i made the right decision.
got some new ebc brakes going on the front aswell, and gonna get the race set up braided hoses with the 60 quid saved from going for the 2ct or bt090s hoping that will sort it out. I had an RS 125 unrestricted with pilot powers on and it was total confidence.
this setup on the heavier bike and its "i hope i make it out of this right hander"
Like i said first big bike, different physics involved, no experience! therefore was looking to put some sticky ass tyres on.
Thin shoes and a badly worn bt014on the roundabout side of the profile make for scary rbt action. It was a proper well shiny main road roundabout.

Well supercorsa's are about 330.00 a set now trade so you have made a good decision for your wallet mate..........just go careful on them maxxis, you DO get what you pay for with them hoops of bakc rubber, and i hear they are like blocks of wood.maxxis supermaxx instead - looked at forum and reviews gonna give it a go for £144

Another guy on here liked em, I know its a bit of a swing from scorsas to maxxis
but they are on now! new ebc hh on the front I will report whether they are indeed like blocks of wood, as soon as i get a few miles under the belt.

you are probably a racer and comparing them to the supercorsas i was thinking about getting. no comparison no doubt, but done now.
I went for a ride with em to scrub in today and for me considering that they are new and slippy, the first 50km was like night and day from the old worn out set of bridgestones. They feel awesome!

ive got the maxxis supersports on my bike and havent had any problems with them at all but i dont go out in the wet or commute on them just go for a play at the weekends when the sun is out, plenty of grip for knee downs etc if you so wish and i think they warm up quick as well.but each to there own with tyres...

sc1 and sc2 are excellant tyres on the track. Dont use them on the road!
