H1 SP CR gearbox has a very tall first gear H2 less so and L less so again but still taller than the regular gearbox
So the bloke that told me the SP gearbox's were different between SP models was indeed correct. It would be interesting to try an L SP and an H1 Sp gearbox back.

...and 135kg is very light indeed, although Ive never measured mine but I would assume its 5kg more than that at least.

How about just buy the gears you need and re-gear your existing box ?

You'll be stripping the engine to but a complete box in anyway so just pay for what you need and you fitting new components.

Or,

I can buy you an SP engine, strip it down and send the goodies - been done for several forum users already. Much of the J2 box is same as the M but 4 parts are no longer available !

Can someone modify the stock L gearbox to SP specs?

If yes, where can buy the gear's to transform the gearbox, i send before 1 month to Nova Race gearbox email, and told me

that they dint have SP gearbox for L models, and dont know anything about this model.

But if someone send one to them, is easy to built one new and to race specs (stronger metal and better gears).

But the cost is shocking

If it's a J2 that's a keeper :smt002 The J1 isn't as good but all gearboxes are interchangeable.

You can look at the online fiche I posted up and get complete listings of the part numbers of each box , from there identify what gears and shaft is needed to modify your particular gearbox to M spec if that's the gearing your looking for.

I will use J2 gearing in my H chassis.

I have SP engines but they are my ones & not for sale - they do come up from time to time and average around the 50,000 Yen mark.

I do have at least one set of SP cams spare , I can make a SP pulsar/rotor - you do need the Mitsubishi box for it.

Here is the part fiche: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12868

I was finding out about a dry clutch conversion , using a Ducati monster 400 unit - billet casing, seal and cover plate 400K yen shocking Then you need the clutch unit ! ANother alternative was to use a NSR250 clutch unit as tuned they kick out 70+PS so should handle the ZXRs power OK plus I have a couple of units in the store room.

Next step is trusting to send the whole lot to China and have it machined over there :smt017 shocking :smt017 Most likely it will third the cost and that's including the shipping - group buy anyone :smt005

Dry clutch is worthless, not even the SBK use one of them right now.

Only Ducati.

Acceleration with a dry is a slight advantage, only the motorcycle oils with lot off anti-friction stuff may help a racer to use a

dry clutch, because slipp-problems when use this oils with wet-cluch.

Anyway SP engines is not for sale, so SP cams big stories about the gains, i see to made custom specs to KENT.

Close ratio gearbox U sell ?

Or send one to Nova Racing Transmisions to built one and keep the info, to made buy order for many?

Whats the purpose of the SP rotor? I ask, as I have a race engine with adjustable Kent cams but I only use the standard rotor and ECU. It runs fine with good power (low 70's I would guess) so what doe the Sp Rotor offer? :smt017

J1 & J2 both use adjustable cam's with standard pulsar & CDI so no reason an L can't do the same (Kent cams included)

Mitsubushi box uses a completely different ignition map so needs a different signal from the crank, the race box also increases the revs to 15,200

I cetainly notice the difference when plugging the unit into my standard H2 engine , looking forward to it being a permanent addition when I get one of the engines hooked in :smt001

Search Plusar rotor and you can see the difference in them - I have posted pics.
