Anyone tried making a small carbon tank? I was thinking about making one for my 400. The plan was to carve a foam block to make the form, and then make the molds off the form. I saw 5 miles per liter mentioned earlier, is that a good estimate for mileage, short course or road course?

I think that would depend largely on the resin used.

No it won't melt the resin, I have a friend who makes them and he hasn't had any issues. And since we'll just be making it to fit under the tank cover it doesn't have to be pretty either. :) How are most of the small aluminum sprint tanks bolted to the frame?

well if thats the case i might get my buddy to make one for me,
i dont know where im going to bolt any thing,i need to get a ram air box first ,just to see what space i have,
it would be that bit lighter being made from carbon too,

You could make the air box our of fiberglass, it's much cheaper and will work just as well.

your right, its just that iv read here some where it has to be a certain shape,
like i would have thought ,if it was really wide at the front to catch as much air as possible, and then a small area around the carbs,
i thought that would create as much down force as possible ,but it turns out not its acturally supose to be a pretty big area around the carbs,
any way i just wouldnt be sure about it,i got a quaote yesterday for 140 including bellmouths from dyno pro racing,
so i think i might go with that,my bike is a h model so i could not find a second hand one.
