**** Please read **** Over size Pistons / Rings

These are still available from an L4

part No. 13029-1210

However, there are no ring sets available from any model :smt009 But there are companies who do make piston rings so not all is lost !

Currently I was able to submit a request for 96 pistons (24 sets) with out a problem.

A few questions if some one can answer:

1) Were +1.0 available and if not are they desirable ?

2a) The "Kit" pistons - were these available in oversize?
2b) Who made them -ART ?
2c) Are they high comp' ?

if the company replies back that they can supply any of the above what number would be wanted ?

Personally I'm looking for high comp' standard as I have a brand new block in the cupboard but if there were at least a dozen sets of something needed I would press on and try get them made / ordered.

If some one has a set of high comp pistons - would you willing to "loan" so that they could be replicated ? I'm hoping to contact the maker directly so might not be necessary. I would put up my SP engine as collateral should anything happen to them or my set of FCR's.

Cheers,

MM!

Mori,
Rob (Toecutter here on the forum has already done all the hard work) I have posted him a kit piston a few months ago & he has been developing a set of standard 3 ring pistons & oversize 2 ring race pistons. These are a cnc machined forges pistons designed by some of the best piston engineers around.
The ART pistons are a cast piston & as such will not be as stable at high speed & temp.
The ones Rob have developed use the crown of the kit piston (13.0:1 according to the kit manual http://www.zxrworld.co.uk/Manuals/zxr400r.pdf) & are lighter than the standard piston. They have coated skirts & use a thinner cast iron compression ring. They will make a set of JE's look like truck pistons.
I have posted some pictures & details of the kit pistons here, viewtopic.php?f=117&t=10108, They were only available in standard bore size.
He has been working on these for the last three months & done a dummy assemblies to ensure clearances are spot on.
Considering the cost of all development work & pedigree of the company manufacturing these pistons the price is very reasonable.
Don't forget they include pistons, rings, pins & clips.
Regards,
Michael
