Experiment with Carbs

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Experiment with Carbs

Post by techie »

Hi All,

Just posting to keep my account alive and give a bit of an update. Under our Post Classic rules in New Zealand we are allowed to change carbs. So I have changed mine all right, bored the little sods out to 34mm on a lathe and rejetted. Put them onto the bike yesterday and whilst the idle is a bit high and the throttles hang up as a result, the response is awesome, on a standard motor the thing spins up better then my sons race motor with no flywheel and ported heads. Maybe we are onto something.

Time consuming mod though as the carbs have to be dismantled lots, if I had to do it for someone else it would be rediculously expensive. Had to make a special adapater to spin the carbs in the lathe accurately.
We will put them on a dyno later in the year and have some real comparisons when we get the results.

Cheers

I'm crap with anything technical on carbs, but this sounds interesting.
