Re: Best Race Pads???
Performance Friction.....
Wouldn't use anything else, well worth the money
Oh by the way..that Orange zxr we bought from you last year, turned out to be just the carb rubbers...Had it dyno'd and was putting out 68 hp and screaming for more power...!
I gave it some nice new internal treatment and now putting out 72hp...
Will be using it for it's first proper outing Easter Monday at Kirkistown, SS400 Championship..

Yeh, you can. Im pretty sure some of the bemsee zxr runners use them. Ive been told once they get wet tho, you should put them aside for wet use only...

Demon Tweaks sell them at a competitive price..from £25 - £29 per caliper set
I bought a set from a local dealer and he charged me £37.50 per caliper...
Takes you to shop around

Re: Best Race Pads???
As I understood it from various sources, you can get them for the H model, but not the L. Apparently, it's quite a common conversion to use H cailpers on L models in order to get a better range of pads (including PFC). I've looked in the Demon Tweeks catalogue and they list them for 89-94 models.......would that be the H?
I've used PFC for 6 years of racing now and they would be my first choice every time. Theres no reason not to use them wet or dry, they're fabulous in all conditions although they do need to be heated up properly first (warm up lap does that ok).

Re: Best Race Pads???
No one ever believes me when I say it but I've never found a brake pad that can match the standard Kawasaki ones....................brilliant in every way.
More important in my opinion is brake fluid................very slowly it deteriates..............slow slowly that you compensate without realising..............and eventually you end up with really crap brakes.
Brake fluid is cheap and easy to change................for me that means after every second race or even after only one if there is a long gap between races.
Never once in 13 years racing have I had a brake problem during a race meeting

Re: Best Race Pads???
I'd agree that Nissin standard pads are very good and I've used these as an alternative, but I wouldn't know about standard kwak (Tokico) pads. Personally, I'd use PF every time, not least of all because they last well and just two sets will get me through a season easily.
What fluid are you using that you have to change every race or every other race? That seems way too often for my liking! I did have fluid problems when I started racing, but that was cos I was using crap fluid. I did also have problems on my last R6 with Castrol SRF boiling up and dirtying, but I switched to Rock Oil Race and that cured that problem.....last season I only changed 2 or 3 times. I don't know what this ZXR is going to be like on fluid, but I hope I'm not going to be changing it any more often than my 600!

Re: Best Race Pads???
You miss my point..............
I don't have to change my brake fluid I do it regulary so that it is fresh and new for every race and consistantly the same.
My logic is that brake fluid very gradually go off.................I never get to that stage mine is always new.
The fluid I use is Mobil dot4.................can't remember the exact spec or name of the top of my head.....................could also be that I got 12 liters of it FOC

Re: Best Race Pads???
Is there any difference in the pads between the H and L model? I had a look on the microfiche and the part numbers are exactly the same. I also had a look on this site http://www.motorcyclepads.com/Kawasaki- ... -Pads.aspx and found the pads for all the zxr400's are the same. The part numbers are also the same for the Suzuki RGV250 which as I understood were the same pads.
