tolerances vary so much that there isnt a set amount to take off the head, its all about getting the squish right.. and every tuner has their own method.

I bin the base gasket (.2mm) and take .25 mm off the head which works and isnt so extreme that things go pop... so far.

Roger (RMKD) has said in the past that he gets the head taken back till any more would be eating the valve seats (anything upto .75mm).. but he also machines the pistons and block, so this approach may not work in other circumstances. He doesnt have a website, but a search for RMKD on here should bring up a post with his number in, i'd feel funny about handing it out tbh.

Zimm,

Did you do anything to the barrels after you got rid of the base gasket?

Barrels are normally just machined across the bottom liner to the opposing barrel to releive a bit a transfer pressure as I understand it But I stand to be corrected biggrin
