Why race a ZXR400?

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Why race a ZXR400?

Post by AgentOrange »

I was wondering what attracted you people to racing a ZXR400 in the first place?

A ZX6R makes loads more power and is newer.. (the ZXR400's design is over 20yrs old now)... so there must be something about them that people like? I know what I like about them, and part of it is that I can remember when they came out new (I'm an old git oldman ), but there are people racing them that weren't born then! What is it about the ZXR400 for you that keeps you racing them?

Such an easy bike to ride, its very neutral, its got a great engine and gives every person who rides it 17-70 a big fat grin. Lets not forget the scream. Whats not to like!?

They're cheap, easy to work on and also parts are widely available.

The ZXR 400 was the only 400 that was officially imported in any great numbers I know Honda had the VFR but they never matched the ZXR for sales and were only imported for a very few years.

400 racing is realitively cheap and it stands to reason that ZXR being the most readily available it would be popular.

My first ZXR was an insurance write off bought from a breaker.................it needed forks and a radiator.....................that was the start been downhill ever since LOL

I haven't raced mine yet, first season next year, bought because its a good intro to road racing, relatively cheap and parts/bikes are readily available.

I dont love them (yet), and this forum was a major factor in my purchase. Any bike with knowledge and advice so readily available is gonna be lots easier to race. I cant wait!!!

Because its got great power to start with to learn on and doesnt wont to kill you on every corner

Once the suspension is sorted what a craking bike to ride with getting the ride height right and dialing it in its a craking bike to ride

Lots of scope on engine to get the ponys up and can be reliable these days and quick but does need the full package exhaust and electrics and ram air

Easy to work on couldnt have wished for a better bike to learn on and had more than fun on mine it was hard work money wise but now i look back at what i achieved it was brillant

If your going to race a bike for the first time couldnt think off a better bike

Hello every one been a while

Looking even better Baz
