There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

L model fork springs

Post by zxdillan »

could anyone tell me what the standard weight is for the L model fork springs? confuddled kg/mm. got a chance on getting some linear springs but they are .700kg/mm. need to find out what is standard to see if it's worth it. get rid of the progressive standard ones.

I think they're 8kgs, nothing really wrong with them except you will probably not use all their travel. Depending on your weight you'll probably need 8.5kgs unless you're a lightwieght :smt002

thought standard springs were linear anyway ?

never heard of a bike with progressive/variable springs as stock.

the ones which are in my L2 and L3 are tighter wound at the bottom than they are at the top. which i thought made them progressive? as the more weight transfers to the front under braking the less chance you have from bottoming out because the springs get stiffer, especially when 2 up.

have to admit, i've never had my forks apart, was just under the impression that the stock springs weren't "progressive"

sure yours are the original springs ?

should think so. both bike have been set up with the same sag. 25mm rider sag, preload all the way in. seems strange that both are the same if they had different springs. i havn't changed them.
