Inlet trumpets

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Inlet trumpets

Post by Max4music »

I know what the answer will be (something along the lines of, "it depends what you set the carbs up to run best with") but I'll ask anyway...

I have short aluminium inlet trumpets (about 35mm) and taller rubber ones. Which should I use on my new race engine Ive put together? Its a full race spec machine (flatslides, ram air etc). I'm going to try both but I'm interested to know what others use and what they have found out about them.

Your thoughts peeps...

Cheers for the reply. Yes I have one bike setup with 2 taller in the centre and shorter on the outside but am keen to see the benefits with all short or tall. I run my valve clearances slap in the middle of the recommended factory settings (I cant remember off hand what they are). Does this make a difference to the inlet trumpets?
