Want to get ZXR400 first bike

Post by ZXR Mania »

I'm after a ZXR400 but just wondering what the best model is to get and what price I am looking at?

Is it better to get the UK model?

price is from £250 - £3000+ depending on model, sp etc...

a better question would be to ask, what could i expect to get for £#### money.

or just look on ebay, ive heard you can buy AND browse things on there now...

I want to toy with about 1,500 roughly.

I'd prefer it to be a UK model - hate the KPH clocks and then having a sticker over it.

I've looked at eBay but what happens if I paid 1,500 for a bike I thought was decent and it turns out to be shite. :(

the simple answer is tough luck, before handing over any money you need to give the bike a good looking at, there area good many things to check on any bike, almost off of these things are the same across all bikes.

for £1500 you should be able to get a l model, maybe a l9, with 25,000 30,000 miles on the clock...but this aint a kids bike for 17 year olds. if you cant maintain it yourself (valve clearances NEED DOING every 5000 miles) then buy something else...old bikes need constant attention, you cant just "rev and go".

as for kph, £35 buys you a converter, but reed on here about the restrictions etc, then bid on a bike you like, go and look at it and see if you want it or not.

I was asking whether or not it is worth keeping the restrictors in not that I wouldn't necessarily.

Best not to even ask, your asking a group of bikers, some very experienced if you should ride around illegaly, on a bike with more power than your allowed, which is for a reason, meaning if you crash, not only are you risking your own life, but others and then would cause higher insurance costs and a bad name for bikers. When buying a bike give it a good check, I didn't and had to rip the loom out
