Another Newbie
Hi All
Joined a few months back, and decided it was time to INTERACT.....
Im on my 2nd zxr now, first being a 94 model back in 2000, and i love the things... Kept my first bike for two years and then moved up to bigger things. (Namely a zx6). Always wanted the 400 back though. Eventually riding like a crazy fool took its toll, and i have now started racing....
YEP!! What better to race than a zxr400....
So here i am everybody...the proud owner of my 2nd zxr400

Hi Zimm
This is what i know of!!
EBC Disks
Race pads
Goodrich brake lines
Maxton fork internals
Ohlins rear shock
Rear sets
Micron header pipes
Fuel end can
Total loss
Tony Scott suppplied Camshafts
Ported and Skimmed by Bob Jackson
L carbs with Dyno Jet kit
Ram air box by RMKD
Has a zx6r radiator i think and a zxr750 fuel tank. Was told it was TT bound??
Going to revert back to 400 radiator with an L model!

Very nice bikes. How much would you say it costs you per season to race? Say if you had a good season with little crashes and little or no breakdowns.

Re: Another Newbie
In my first race meeting i crashed, so that cost me just short of £800 for the weekend...
But if everything goes to plan and the bike is running right, then all you need is entry fees....
After that, Depends on your budget i suppose. Im changing oil and filter every other meeting, so thats £30, transponder hire is going to be £20 or £30 ish depending on which club your in, and also how many mettings you do....
This is my first season, so ive had to buy quite alot of things that i hadnt thought about....
It all adds up....![:smt001](./images/smilies/001.gif)

Re: Another Newbie
A bollocking off the missus whenever i want to go racing because shes always got something that needs doing.....
But overall a massive buzz out of it...
I thought i could ride fast, that was untill i started racing...but you cant beat riding 6" away from somebody at ridiculous speeds...especially when they nearly highside in front of you..
Ive met loads of great people, been helped out alot with advice etc, have good banter with the other lads in between races..
After a race meeting, its the only thing i talk about for ages..
So for me, i get loads out of it...

Re: Another Newbie
Scott221,
Not including the bike I would estimate around the 4 grand mark for the full season at knockhill in the prody 400 class plus entries into the Melville meets at East Fortune and Knockhill Formula 400 class, as this is my first season I am guessing.
You have enrty fees tyres fuel & transport to each event/meet.
I too get loads out of racing and wish I had taken it up twenty years ago!!!
As it happens it took beating prostrate Cancer to get me change my attitude into a healthier 'life is too short not too .......
And lucky enough to be invited to join Fatspanner racing team without ALL helpers (which I was one) and Mechanics this would not be possible!
