Bike wont start

Post by 08broach »

hi..
Im confused about whats rong with my bike
the bike sometimes wont start off the starter motor, the motor seems do die after about 10 turn overs which makes me think its the battery, how ever then later that day it may start first time even though it hasnt been ridem,

i have taken it for a few good half hour rides to try and charge the battery but still no luck sometimes,
the bike starts perfectly off a bump start..

i was thinking it could be the ignition coils? battery?. or spark plugs?
i have orderd some new plugs which i will try first

any thoughts?

I'd give the spark plugs a try first.

May have been a better option to post this in the 'Having Problems' section though :smt018

I'd say charging circuit is your first point of call.

If you can, try and test the battery. It's amazing how little voltage it needs to lose before it won't work!

Hi, i picked up my first ZXR400 last week and am experiencing the same problems. 3 out of the 4 times i am taken it out this has happened. I have checked the voltages across the battery and all appears to be fine there. Am starting to think along the lines of starter solonoid?

Am i way of the mark here?
