Hi all,
I need some help please, Ive had a lot of trouble in getting my zxr started.
The problem is that the spark plugs are wet with fuel. Ive set the Carbs pilot screw to 1 1/2 turns out.
put some new plugs in and it started no problem, left it for a while but it didn't like having less than 1/2 choke on.
turned it off for 10min and tryed it again and it wouldnt start.
striped it and took the plugs out, wet again!
what am I missing? what are the causes of wet plugs and what can I do?

Did this problem just suddenly happen ?
Had you done something or several things before it occured , what were they ?
Do you leave your fuel tap on all the time ?
Faulty floatbowl height might be the problem , worn valve seat or shut off valve in the carbs.
Lean the carbs off , see if it start easier/better - go 2 ~ 2 1/2 turns out

Ive only had the bike running a few times and never rode it yet.
Sorted the over fueling, I played with the carbs and kept checking the plugs. (very much a novice with mechanics, learning on the fly.)
Now that they are clean from fuel its revealed a bigger problem tho, coolant on the plugs in 2+3,
Head gasket gone...
Ive got a new gasket so will be sorting this weekend hopefully.

Ah, so you bought as a non-runner ?
Yup, head gasket is gone - check the head isn't warped with a steel rule/straight edge. Hopefully past owner stopped up quick before it went terminal.

Just mind replace all O rings you disturb getting in there !

Does turning the pilot screws out make it leaner?
I was under the impresion that the more you screw it in it restricted the amout of fuel..
so screwing it out would make it richer?
Or is it an air screw and not a fuel screw?

Can anyone confirm which way you turn the pilot screws to lean/richen?.
