Newbie Help! All lights on no go!

Post by Headling »

Hi Guys, as well as my race bike I have a nice N plate ZXR400 that a friend wants me to get going and sell , its mint and done 9000 miles btw!

It was running ok a few months ago, gone to get it out of the shed and it doesnt go!

This is what happens, everything electrical works great, you hit the red starter button and nothing, no clicks from solenoid or starter motor trying to go?

Here is what I have looked at so far:

New and Charged batt,

New starter solenoid, it does start if I ark this accross terminals?

All fuses ok

I have taken throttle tube off and wires ok to switch

What else can I check? Is side stand switch one to look at?? Is it a case of unplugging it or do i need to put a piece of wires to link it out?

Any help much appreciated! :gamer

Is your kill switch off?

Any corrosion on the connector blocks in the loom?

The contacts for the starter button have corroded and caused a similar problem for me before so maybe have a closer look at that.

Check the clutch switch wires are connected as ive seen them come off before. They are just under where the clutch lever pivots and are a couple of spade connectors. Side stand switch is always good to give is a clean so no harm there.

cant think of much else...........

Check the starter motor connection at the motor itself.
