Hi,
Yesterday I went to fill up with fuel, doing the usual turning the engine off, opening the fuel cap etc... Jumped back on the bike hit the starter button and nothing. I had to get my mate (who was luckily enough with me at the time) to give me a bump. Got the bike home in the end. I instantly thought it would be the starter solenoid, so I changed it with another 1 from a zzr250, still nothing. Thought it would be the starter motor, so I whacked a spanner across the starter solenoid and the bike fired up.
As I hit the starter button, I get no clicking noises from the solenoid, no dimming lights etc... and everything still works ok: lights, indicators, horn etc...
The only noises I can hear is a lil clicking noise coming from the fusebox.
Any ideas?
Regards
Rich

sounds like the starter relay has gone mate, i'm assuming you mean relay when you say solenoid? is the one you swapped a good one?

Yeah starter relay/solenoid. I'm not sure if the 1 I swapped it with works, but as far I know it was working when it was on the zzr.

mine did this from time to time, always started after a couple of tries though. i think the switch was faulty/dirty as if you pressed it really hard it always worked.

Re: Not starting from the button.
I had this problem along with the noisy fuse box. At first I thought it was a relay in the fuse box but it has turned out to be the switch itself. It no longer made contact within the switch, which was temporily fixed using a little bit of solder on the contact points. As rover 220 says you may get it to work if you press harder but mine didn't.
I'd cheack the switch with a multimeter.

Hi,
Problem Solved!
Ripped the fusebox apart which looks like it has been before and the relay had gone. Fixed it with a pair of pliers by bending the relay switch about abit.

Re: SOLVED: Not starting from the button.
judging by your conclusion i would say that the relay in the junction box determines wether or not the starter motor spins?
