Hi there hope one of you can help. I have a zxr400l race bike (import) decided to change the loom to a race one as diagram elsewhere on this forum shows. .However since doing this the bike wont rev over 10000 rpm there is a pink wire that come from the ignitor box that i cant find on the UK wiring diagram could this be the issue, there also a box that sat behind the speedo that i was told is to over rule a speed limiter(, not rev limiter) thats on imported bike, true or is this the issue .
Please help im really really stuck

Re: rev it up baby
you have all your answers right there, re-connect the "speed de-restrictor" and its all good..
or fit a uk cdi so you dont need one.
check this thread.

Re: rev it up baby
Hi zimm ive been told that its a speed, not rev limiter and this cuts the revs at say 120 mph and the bike should rev freely until that speed. but ill go and give it a try anyway.

yep, its a speed limiter, which is operated by the speedo telling the ignition that you are exceeding 180kph, so it cuts the spark.
if however you remove the speedo, the ignition goes into "hah, you cant beat me that way" mode and limits you to 10,000 rpm (ish) which is why you have the the de-restriction boxes, which obviously cant tell what speed you are doing, and keep the ignition happy.

Re: rev it up baby
what do you mean its "breathing fire" ?
if its popping a few flames out of the can cos your twatting it into the limiter in neutral .. its normal.. see above post.
