Mirror vibrations!

Post by Vard66 »

Ok, this is only the most minor of minor little tiny miniature negligible niggles.

My N/S mirror is rock solid, at any speed, under any conditions. My O/S mirror shakes like a jelly, vibrating so I can hardly see in it.

Any tips on preventing this?
Vard.

I found doing my valve clearances cured mine, now the engine is running silky smooth they hardly vibe at all. There should be some rubber splints that sit over the H frame where the mirror is bolted on, are they there? You could try tightening or slackening the bolts off.

The rubbers are there on both sides - I have tried tightening the bolts, but not loosening - the theory being that the rubbers will then absorb more of the vibrations, Rob?

i get mega vibes through my mirrors, frame, seat, ass......................i think doin valve clearances to stop the mirror shaking is a bit extreme, tried removing the mirror to see if stops shaking?
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

yeah valve clearances is extreme

Tightening could make it worse because you are compressing the rubber, and if you carry on compressing it, it will actually become harder. Bit like squashing a spring till you cant compress it any more.

I suffer from the same issue,

I removed the offending mirror, took it in the house for safe keeping only to find that it was shaking across the table.......

I think i have a faulty mirror ;)
