H & L owners, a bit of help needed

I'm wanting to make up some patch wires so need the following info'

The two block connectors going into the CDI , I'm needing to know the location of each coloured wire - what the wire connects to isn't essential but still appreciated too, I'm sure I can look it up in the forum workshop manual.

So looking at the block connectors like this (not the cdi) :
(open in new tab for larger pic)
Image

For example
1. = Black
2. = Green
3. = Red

ect......

Cheers,

MM!

Drew - from a UK L model ( I have two spare looms and they both check out)

1) Brown
2) no cable
3) Green (2/3 coil)
4) Yell/ Black (earth)
5) Green/Black (connected to earth)
6) Black (1 /4 coil)
7) Black/white (ignition pick up)
8) no cable
9) yellow (ignition pick up)
10) Grey (connected via resistor to live)

these are the colours as though I was looking at the teminal block with the cables coming out the other side

Thanks D,

:smt004

Pink is confirmed as the speed restriction signal and the F3 cdi's seem to ground this out - I'll be pissed if that's all these freakin black boxes are doing :smt005

Need to investigate further......

Dave:
1) Brown
2)
3) Green - regulator
4) Yell/ Black - Common Earth
5) Green/Black - earth
6) Black - #1,4 coil
7) Black/white - pulsar rotor
8)
9) yellow - Throttle sensor
10) Grey - #2,3 coil

Cargo:
1. black/white ?
2.
3. green - regulator
4. black/ yellow - Common Earth
5. green/black - earth
6. black - #1,4
7. black/white- pulsar rotor
8. pink - clocks
9. yellow - Throttle sensor
10. gray - #2,3 coil

PROBLEMS!! Rewired my bike to a race loom & total loss. Now she just won't spark!! The really strange thing is that the cables going into the certain terminals are completely different from yours!?!? I did have a Red "A 1271" CDI, but I've just changed it for a Blue "M 1332" CDI.

Image

On my bike the terminals are;

1-No cable
2-Yellow (Rotor Sensor)
3-Black/White (Rotor Sensor)
4-No cable
5-Pink (I've got this off tho)
6-Green & Black (Connected to live via 100Ohm 0.5w resistor)
7-Brown (Red on my bike for some reason)
8-Black (Ignition Coils 1/4)
9-Black/Yellow (Earth)
10-Green (Ignition Coils 2/3)

The bike was working before I touched it so it wasnt me that put the cables in those terminals.

Lachie,

Problem here is you have an H loom and an L CDI. If you have wired the race loom as per the diagram on the thread then if the wiring is correct you should be able to make the L CDI work - however you will need to change the postion of the cables into the connector block

Looking at the connector blocks as per your drawing (ie numbering as per facing the CDI) the L loom would be

1) Green (coil 2/3)
2_ spare
3) brown (live)
4) Black (coild 1/4)
5) Green/ black - connected to earth
6) Yellpow/black (earth)
7) spare
8) black/ white ignition pick up
9) Grey - connected via 100ohm to live
10) yellow - ignition pick up

Id say they do ground the pink wire out MoriMan, usually through a resistor. I did workt his out to be 36K resistor but ive read others using a different value.

Successfully made a patch lead to run the H on a F3 Race CDI, it was a bit of a :smt017 getting it sussed though!

However the same patch lead wont get the SP CDI's to work :smt017 :smt017 must be something to do with the fuel cut off solenoid but my head was bursting enough and ultimately happy to get the F3 box working on the bike :smt003

I'm tempted to lash in a set of SP cam's into the H2 motor just now while I'm building the SP engine back up.

MM!

She's alive!!! Changed the conections on the CDI which were completely different & the beast was roaring!! :excited Noticed it idles at 4000RPM now tho! lol Not too bothered about that too much tho as it's a race bike & wont really be sitting below 10,000RPM at any time. Just happy its runnung for Knockhill on Sunday! biggrin
Thanks for your help chaps!

Hi,

I have an H1 ZXR 400.
I want to replace my 10k limited CDI red label (1271) with an M one (1332).I was reading about this action on the forum and I know that I must to do the following wires changes:

Image

And I have a few questions about it:

1) I don´t know what to do with the terminal number 6 (on CDI 1271), should I swap to number 9 on CDI 1332 or what ?
2) May I use a resistor ? Why ? my bike is a street bike, not a racing one, so, is it really necessary ?

Thanks for your help in advance.
