I have a problem, can anyone help. My new track bike...
Starts fine, charge rate is at 13.5 - 14 volts.
This voltage then progressivley gets higher until about 17.5 - 18 volts, and the bike then cuts out (this is normally about 5 - 10 minutes of running).
Have changed the regulator/rectifyer but this hasn't helped.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance of any help.
Si

isn't your alternator/generator whatever they call it on a bike shagged when it does this?

I'd have thought when you're alternator was shagged it won't be putting out enough charge (like mine), and I'd be looking at a reg/rec problem!
Is it possible the new unit is faulty too?
Also, I've heard quite a few people saying that it's best to change the alternator AND the reg/rec unit if one goes, because the faulty part can kill the new part when you replace it.
I got lucky with mine and the reg/rec seemed fine - but then I was having the opposite problem to yours...
