Mystery yellow wire and fuel pump relay?

Post by topfridgeman »

Hello

I've just ripped most of the lighting wiring off my L1 zxr race bike project. Whilst I was doing the job, the zxr world website was down, so I just worked through using the workshop manual drawing.
2 questions, does anyone know the reason for the yellow wire which is spliced into one of the generator phase wires and goes to the cut out part of the fuse box and isn't shown on the drawing?
Is it ok to get rid of the fuel pump relay and wire it straight to the ignition live?

Thanks.

hi there, there should be no wires that are common to the alternator and the fuel pump...so thats likely some strange hack-job on your loom

yes you can wire it straight in, you need to connect the black wire of the fuel pump to ground, and connect the red wire from the kill switch to the red wire of the fuel pump...now your pump will be constantly on as long as you have the kill switch set to "run".

Thanks.

The yellow wire from the generator phase to the fuse box was a lights on signal wire for the import bikes to bring the lights on once the engine has started. Someone else had a Japanese spec diagram on which shows the wire and the circuit.

im just wondering why a DC fusebox would have anything to do with a AC generator?

or do you mean it came from the rectified/regulated side? in this case, yes there is a wire that goes into the fusebox...
