Top Tip - Dont dissassemble your starter motor...
...is not an easy job to get the carbon brushes back in without damage to them or the copper wires...

Just showing off here Not only did I manage to dissassemble one but I managed to grind the brushes from an old starter motor I had lying around to fit in the retain slots, modded the springs and it worked perfectly.
what a smug twat eh? Although I did sell the bike and it could have stopped working the day after.
